This is the jacket I made for my Grandma. I chose the different parts of the jacket to relate to experiences in her life. Red was her favorite color. She taught school before she was married, that's where the green fabric with the red apples all over it comes in. She and her sisters made several log cabin quilts, so I put a log cabin square in the jacket. I put the ship on the pocket because her mother came to the U.S. from Germany when she was a young girl. My grandma liked colored leaves. I had sent her some pretty ones when I lived in Illinios and she was in Texas where the leaves only turned brown. She liked birds. She always had bird feeders where she could watch the birds through the windows.
